•A water insoluble surfactant for use in self emulsifying systems to obtain a coarse dispersion ie. emulsion (SEDDS) or a fine dispersion ie. microemulsion (SMEDDS).
•Bioavailability enhancer: increased oral bioavailability is associated with inhibition of the enterocytic drug metabolizing enzyme CYP3A4.
Topical
•A water-in-oil surfactant / solubilizer associated with enhanced drug penetration.
