The foundation of BIOVIA Discoverant is its on-demand data access environment, BIOVIA Nexus, which aggregates and contextualizes different data types (discrete, continuous, replicate, keyword, event or text) and batch genealogies from different data sources such as LIMS and ERP systems, data historians, or data warehouses, providing end-users with an easy, consistent way to retrieve process and quality data regardless of where the data is stored. It helps to create a comprehensive, end-to-end view of the manufacturing process in a single, validated environment.
Nexus is comprised of four major components:
1. Hierarchies provide a hierarchical representation of the manufacturing or process development process that serves to organize data access and provide mapping to source data
2. The Hierarchy Verification Utility is used to verify that the configured mappings retrieve the expected source data
3. The Dynamic Mapping Engine is used to provide on-demand retrieval of source data
4. An Analysis Group is a non-homogeneous data storage model, a snapshot of the data at the time it was requested.
The Dynamic Mapping Engine utilizes Hierarchy configurations to automatically generate queries against source databases to retrieve data. It then organizes the data around a common context called a Parameter Set and makes the contextualized data available in an Analysis Group for subsequent analysis in BIOVIA InVision.
