CCL Achieves GMI's FIRST Certified Digital Folding Carton Press

CCL Montreal is pleased to announce, as of November 2016, our digital folding carton department achieved full certification status with a score of 97% from GMI (Graphic Measures International). This certification is a formal recognition that CCL Montreal’s Digital Printing Processes comply with Walgreens PQA (Packaging Quality Assurance) standards and are now a certified brand printer published on the GMI Certified Print Packaging Suppliers list. GMI also monitors PQA programs with private brand customers, providing greater possibilities of expanding CCL’s network.

The certification process consists of a rigorous on-site evaluation, performed by a certified GMI engineer, verifying and validating the print packaging supplier’s ability to deliver consistent quality results to Walgreens PQA standards measured through a scientific color management system. The program aligns people, processes, and technology with a focus on process control, documentation, equipment maintenance, training procedures, operator capability, and equipment performance in pre-press as well as press and post-press operations. Post-certification activities involve monitoring all production runs for Walgreens private brands through sampling sent to GMI for evaluation prior to batch release. This ensures repeatable print packaging quality and accordingly protecting Walgreens brands.

CCL Montreal plans on achieving full GMI certification for flexographic and offset printing processes to comply with the Walgreens PQA program in 2017.
